Questions about Interconnect Access (ICA) Service

What is the maximum number of Access Areas to which I can interconnect?

You can connect to 20 Access Areas.

To what Access Areas can I Interconnect?

Amsterdam, Haarlem Alkmaar, the Rotterdam region, the city of Rotterdam, Breda, Utrecht, Den Haag, Amersfoort, Leeuwarden, Groningen, Enschede, Deventer, Zwolle, Venlo, Heerlen, Den Bosch, Eindhoven, Arnhem, Nijmegen

What is the minimum number of Access Areas to which I must interconnect?

You must connect to at least 1 Access Area.

What are the delivery times for Interconnection services?

KPN delivery times for Interconnection services are registered with the OPTA.

Are deliveries tested before delivery?

Yes, the transmission, the services and the invoicing are all tested before delivery.

How is Interconnection tested?

The transmission is tested using an end-to-end test; the services and the invoicing are tested using a Network Interconnection Test in conformance with the Plugbox method®

What assistance will I receive from KPN during delivery of the Interconnect Access services?

Project management and technical consultancy.

How is my network physically linked to the KPN network?

The physical link is established via 1 or more glass (fiber optic) or Coax (electrical) 155Mb carriers.

Do I have to conclude a contract to order an ICA service? What party must I contact to do this?

Questions about Interconnected Leased Lines (ILL) Service

Can I order a temporary ILL connection with a contract length of less than 1 year?

No, the minimum contract length for an ILL connection is 1 year.

What interfaces are available for delivering an ILL connection?

X21, V35, G703RJ45, G703BNC

What are the delivery times for ILL connections?

Twenty-three work days provided there is inventory in the KPN network and at the customer site. If no inventory is available, KPN must dig, perform welding activities, and may have to request a license.

What are the delivery times for transfer, relocation, migration, and interface changes to an ILL connection?

Questions about Wholesale Ethernet Access Service (WEAS) Service

Is the WEAS connection based on a single or dual fiber connection?

The WEAS connection using an LE310 modem consists of a single fiber connection. The WEAS connection using an LE311 modem is a dual fiber (protected) connection.

To what port on the WEAS-modem is the VPN connection attached?

The WEAS connection using an LE310 modem is always connected to port 1 of the modem. The WEAS connection using a LE311 modem is always connected to ports 1 and 2 of the modem (protected).

How much space do the modem and the connection panel for a WEAS connection occupy in my patch cabinet?

The modem (the LE310 or the LE311) takes up 1 Height Unit in a 19" rack. If a connection panel must be installed, this also occupies 1 Height Unit in a 19"rack.

At what speed is the modem (the LE310 or the LE311) connected to the KPN network?

The connection to the network can be either 100 Mbit/s or 1 Gbit/s.

Can I order a temporary WEAS connection with a contract length of less than 1 year?

No, the minimum contract length for a WEAS connection is 1 year.

When ordering a WEAS connection must I conclude a contact? Whom must I contact to do this?

Questions about Wholesale Broadband Access (WBA)

I can't get access to the WBA Portal (KIWI, Bitstream Access Online)

The IP address is not familiar at the KPN side -> The solution: Send an email to Delivery-wba@kpn.com to have an IP address opened.

I can't get access to BSW (Broadband Service Web)

It is no longer possible to log in to the WBA Portal / BSW with the Admin account

Send an email to delivery-wba@kpn.com with a request to have the admin account reset.

What is the cancellation period for an order?

Scheduled orders can be cancelled up to 4 work days before the delivery. It is impossible to cancel Real Time orders.

If I submit an order with a desired date, what time period must I take into account?

If an order with a desired date is submitted, the desired date for this order must be a minimum number of work days in the future.

Why is a 3Mb speed available, but a 2Mb speed is not available?

This has to do with the so-called Rate Adaptive (RA) value (lower limit guarantee). You can find more information regarding this and what these RA values are per speed in Annex 2, which can be found at the KPN wholesale site (add link to Annex2)

I would like to have more information about the services to be delivered by WBA. Where can I find this information?
